Notice received without quoting any section

17 October 2014 Dear All,

I have received notice from income tax department for the AY 2012-2013 in October 2014 without mentioning any section.

Department asking for copy of ITR Filed and financial statements.

I have filed the return in time also got the refund for the same year.

My question is whether department can issued this type of notice without mentioning sections and calling for information..?

and is it time barred notice or not?
