Non filing of income tax return

13 March 2015 My uncle has received letter from Income tax dept. stating therein that return of AY2010-11, 2011-12,2012-13 have not been filed. A list of share transactions for FY 2009-10 onwards is provided. My uncle died in sept.2012, is legal heir required to furnish any response in this regard. Whether legal heir will be liable to any interest or penalty? What if the total income is below the taxable limit?
