NOC from Previous Auditor

22 September 2009 is it sufficient if a mail to previous auditor is sent asking him a NOC or should it be obtained by writing a letter to the previous auditor.

if the client gives the appointment, say 8 days prior to the due date of filing and till the date of filing the previous auditor has not responded to the NOC, what should be the next steps?
please help on this

22 September 2009 it is mendatory to take noc from prior auditor in writing.
clint should take care of dates & accordingly manage time clash between noc.
