dear sir what is the difference between Nil rated items and exempted

Nil Rated Supplies- Rate of which is defined as "Nil" Exempt Supply- Wholly exempt from tax or non taxable under this Act.

both definition make a sense of - zero rate then what is the actual difference between Nil rated and exempt please explain in simple words
