So I have a small proprietorship that sells website. Ive only registered under the shops and establishments act.
This apparently is not enough to get a current account on my business name. I really need a current account for upcoming projects.
The banks say I need atleast 2 legal documents proving the proprietorship. So I was thinking of applying for ST even though I'm not liable at all(I dont make such a turnover) Is it a good idea, how would i fill nil returns, what cost would it end up in?

you can register for Service tax voluntary no problem. but PAN is required for the same. after registration you can file nil return also and No cost will involve to register service tax & visit www.aces.gov.in and register online
I do have a PAN number, a voter id and a passport.
Another question. Where would I get info on how to file a NIL return and is it possible to do all this online, also do I have to do every 6 months.
Someone did tell me that it will end up in some kind of yearly cost 1000-3000 is that true, will anything end up in some cost eventually for either filing NIL returns, or is there some minimum amount to be paid?

For service tax everything will be online now, registration, return(nil return also) all the facilites in one website www.aces.gov.in, and no fees and other charges prescribed in Service tax, registration
