Is mutual fund after maturity taxable? If yes then under which head of income?

Yes, mutual funds maturity is taxable if it is short term, long term equity oriented fund are tax exempted.

Dear Ritesh,
Redemption of mutual funds is covered under capital gain. in case of debt oriented funds, holding more than 36 months will make the gain long term@20% else short term. equity oriented shall be as explained by fellow expert.
