30 April 2012 This is not mandatory.

Registration under this act will help you in many way like in govt projects govt has the policy to allot the project to small and medium enterprise which are registered etc.

Any company may register itself if meeting the criteria.

01 May 2012 sir, i m working in pvt.ltd. co. nd our co. works as architect & interior projects, should it beneficial for our co. to register with MSMED Act 2006.
MSMED Act is only for Govt. projects or also applicable for private projects - ?

12 April 2020 Hi, I differ from the opinion of spurto consultancy services. Registration of an Micro /SSI Unit is a mandatory to avail the benefits of the MSMED Act 2006. In the erstwhile Interest on Delayed Payment act of 1993 it was DIC registration and in the new Act of 2006 it was EM II. The Ministry of MSME has notified about Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) through the Gazette of India on 18.09.2015 as a part of the government's initiative to ease of registration of the MSMEs. The simplified one page registration form (Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum) was made after wide consultations with stateslUTs and other stakeholders. The UAM has been introduced and the same replaces the filing of Entrepreneur's Memorandum Part I&II.
