Missing challan

31 May 2012 Hi Everyone,

IT department has issued a IT notice to one of our client for FY 2006-07 - intimating there is mismatch in challans.

After doing Challan status enquiry with NSDL site, it was observed that there was mismatch in challans. Hence we asked the client to provide the challan copies, but they said that they dont' have challans.

How to Proceed now, How to get the challan details now, Is it possible to open the CSI file downloaded from TIN-NSDL site and obtain the required details.

Please suggest me

31 May 2012 The question of amount in challan may be resolved by referring the books of account or Bank Statement of relevant period.
.
Such amount may be matched with the details on record in TDS file of the client. .

01 June 2012 But the actual problem is that, our client is not in posession of any records pertaining to that period.

Whether there is any alternative way?

Whether we can use the CSI file donloaded from TIN-NSDL site for extracting the requisite details
