Can someone tell me which section provides for keeping the minutes book at the Registered office of the Company?????Can the same be kept at a place other than the Registered office of the Company???????

16 November 2010 As per section 196(1) minutes of GM shall be kept at the registered office of the company. However law is silent regarding BM minutes.

It can not be kept at a place other than registered office. This facility is available for the docs mentioned u/s 163.

As rightly said by you section 196 speaks only about the minutes of the GM so can we keep the minutes of the Board Meeting and Meetings of the Committees of the Board at a place other than the Registered Office of the Company????????

17 November 2010 Yes you can keep minutes of the Board Meeting and Meetings of the Committees of the Board at a place other than the Registered Office of the Company.

Well this is my personal view based on various corporate practices.
