19 July 2013 Can a minor file IT return for taxable income generated in his name (say fixed deposits) as he holds valid permanent account no.

19 July 2013 No he can not. Since he has not earned the money invested in Fixed Deposits. Minors income will be clubbed with his/her parent.

Minor can file return only if the Income is generated by his/her own skill/talent like., child artist.

19 July 2013 if income is not earned by his own skill or hard work or talent then income needs to be clubed with the parents income whose income (excluding this income) is more as per sec 64(2).
