If Mediclaim premium is paid on 25.03.2011 and the policy is covered for the period 25.03.2011 to 24.03.2012 then in this case, can the exemption u/s 80D be claimed for A.Y. 2011-12 and A.Y. 2012-13 on pro-rata basis.

Entire Deduction will be available in Ay 2011-12. On payment basis.

The exe4mption u/s 80D will be allowed for the AY 2011-12, These deductions are based on the payment date but not on the coverage period.
