Medical reimbursement

One of our employee wants to claim medical reimbursement. Assume, his expenses towards the above is the single Spectacle which is costing 22,000/- There are two categories here, one is the lens price and the frame price. The frame cost is around 18000,- and the lens cost 4000/-. My opinion is that only the lens is allowed as it meets the medical need and not the frame. I understand he has to wear a spectacle which obviously consist both. As only one meets the medical need, i assume the cost of the lens should be allowed. Please advise.

Your company must have certain guidelines in this regard so as to avoid unnecessary difficulties to the employees in getting reimbursement of genuine expenditure incurred by them.

Expenditure on frame of Rs 18000/- seems to be incurred for cosmetic reasons. You may limit it but can not totally ignore it. As without the frame the lens is not workable and without the spectacles the employee is also not workable.
