Is there any limitation to the number of working directors in a private limited company, as stipulated by the Companies Act?

As per Companies Act,1956 ,
Private Company
Minimum two
No limit on maximum number of directors that can be appointed ( section 259 )
rivate Company that is a subsidiary of a Public Company
Minimum two
Maximum twelve ( section 259 says that number of directors can be increased beyond twelve by permission of central government )
