I am a woman pensioner (now aged 65 yrs) from Osmania University, Hyderabad. I have been filing my IT returns from 1990s. However in 2010, I was abroad and I missed fling my returns for AY 2010-11. However I filed returns thereafter every year. The tax liability in 2010-11 is about Rs 6000 if I had paid tax at that time.

I never got any notice from I T Department, though. But still I thought I should keep my records clear

Can I file my returns for AY2010-11 ONLINE now and if so, how much penalty I will be liable – is there a formula or web site where I can calculate penalty and pay that amount too online. I downloaded SARAL from from Internet for AY 2010-11. Can I upload this online. Please advise

07 June 2015 you cannot file the return online ma'am.

you will have to prepare the return on the physical form and submit it to the jurisdictional Assessing Officer.

Kindly note that such a return will be filed only for record purposes and won't be processed as such.

07 June 2015 Thank you sir. But you did not comment if there is any penalty on late submission. How much would that be very approx? I also want to know if there would be any future complications because of this? Or do you suggest just lie low and see what happens.

07 June 2015 penalty is a question that comes into picture only where the AO processes your return.

In worst case scenario you can be penalized with Rs 5000/-

while lying low is not going to hurt much, filing is still advisable.
