01 August 2017 You can file returns before the end of corresponding assessment yeae, i.e 31st March 17 in your case. Belated returns can still be filed u/s 142(1) before 31st March 2018. However, if the assessing officer had already issued a notice for non filing of ITR, returns shouldbe filed within the period mentioned in such notice
