30 May 2009 our place of business is from bengaluru

we do helicopter hire business, service tax is applicable, registration taken

is karnataka VAT applicable on helicopter hire charges ?
because dealer definition as per KVAT says "a person engaged in the business of transfer of the right to use any goods for any purpose[whether or not for a specific period] for cash, deferred payment or other valuable consideration"

31 May 2009 Dear Mr. Shekar,

1. VAT is applicable for the Hire Charges charged by the dealer.

2. The rate of tax is as same what is applicable for the product.

01 June 2009 this is further to our telecon yesterday
i once again read VAT definition - now
VAT is not applicable in our case, because right to use helicopter is not transferred, we have engaged a company to take care of maintenance and running
