An individual received a notification about filing an updated ITR (ITR-U) under section 139(8A) for AY 2022-23, with a deadline of 31st March 2025. Despite the notification, their annual income was below the taxable threshold of £1 lakh, and they had no other income sources. They were advised that since their income is below the taxable limit, there is no requirement to file an ITR, nor is there any interest or penalty to pay, and they can disregard the message.
