18 May 2012 Dear expert,
I have downloaded ITR 4S for AY 2012-13 and opted the option of refund by cheque instead of direct deposit. However, when I clicked on generate file button, it is asking me to fill MICR code, despite that I have opted the paper cheque option.
Please advise me.

18 May 2012 Providing MICR code is MANDATORY even if refund option is paper cheque.

This will be mentioned on the refund cheque prepared by the department.

18 May 2012 yes agree with expert,
now it mandatory to write MICR code in case of refund direct deposit or by cheque

18 May 2012 from the professional point of view, it is good to insist to client to get refund through paper cheque or direct deposit.
Please advise me.

18 May 2012 Any mode can be chosen. Moreover direct refund facility is not available in all the cities.

If the client has a permanent address it is better to opt for paper refund.
