IT Return for the FY 2009-10 had to be filed till 31st July,2010. If no tax was payable, It could have been filed by 31st March'11 without any interest & Penalty. If you want to file FY 2009-10 return now you have to pay penalty @ Rs. 5000 plus interest on tax dues under section 234A/B/C.

I have assumed, you are a assesse other than a Company, partner in a Firm which accounts required to be audit and your books of accounts is not required to be audited u/44AB.
