10 June 2008 Service tax charged by Subcontractor in Bill .

In this case should we pay serice tax on behalf of subcontractor and issue him certificate stating that service tax paid by us on behlaf of him.

Please solve the query.

10 June 2008 There is no system of issue of certificate(like TDS under Income-tax) in service tax. You should pay the tax to the sub-contractor and take the cenvat credit yourself.

14 June 2008 Actually we dont issue certificate like TDS Under Income Tax but furnish service tax challan detail on company letter head & issue to him. it is right way or not.

and what about the processor for taking cenvat credit
