Is adhaar mandatory for e-filing of return

27 March 2018 I do not have adhaar as on date. Since the supreme Court has indefinitely extended all the linking deadlines and has made adhaar mandatory for subsidies only, do i still need to enroll for adhaar for e-filing of return for financial year 2016-17 ?

27 March 2018 Yes. We cannot file ITR without Aadhar still now

27 March 2018 As i typed a reply, news has come that CBDT has extended the deadline till 30th June

27 March 2018 But till further decision by supreme Court, it's not mandatory to have adhaar for filing of return. So why can't I? Also adhaar column in the itr forms is not mandatory (star marked) to fill. So why can't I?

27 March 2018 Pls read my second reply. You can file still 30th June as per CBDT notification

27 March 2018 And the decision to extend it only till 30th June is CBDT discretion. As far as i know, Govt had told the SC that it extended the deadline for Bank account linking, mobile number linking , applying passport etc
