23 September 2011 Defective return is not always Invaild return, can anyone suggest me when can return be invaild, m nt able to recollect....? :(

If a person file a return, as tax payable such return will be considered as?

23 September 2011 1) Example for defective return - The annexure, statements and columns in the return of income relating to computation of income chargeable under each head of income, computation of gross total income and total income have not been duly filled in .
2) Example for invalid return - Return of income not signed by the assessee or signed not in accordance with section 140 of the Income Tax Act,1961.

23 September 2011 If a person file a return, as tax payable such return will be considered as?

23 September 2011 If return is filed with out paying tax or fully discharging the tax payable such return is a defective return then the assessee will be treated as an in default and all the consequences thereof follows.
