26 November 2010 I having salary income of Rs. 5 Lacs and on the other hand i have paid Rs. 1.8 Lacs for rent of rented flat

can the same be adjusted
can salary income be adjusted with other sources loss

27 November 2010 Hi Sumit,
The issue is: Are you recieving House rent allowance(HRA)?
If you are receiving HRA, then in calculating of your salary, the rent paid will be taken care.
If you are not recieving HRA, you can claim deduction u/s 80GG.

01 February 2012 No deduction towards expenses (here rent payment) is allowed from salary except for
i) entertainment allowance specifically granted by the employer to a government servant. Pl see section 16(ii)of IT Act,1961.
ii) profession tax payment. Pl see section 16(iii)of IT Act,1961.
