Intimation u/s 143

I have received an intimation U/S 143 (1) for tht AY 2005-2006 for Rs48730.00/-. The demand was raised because advance tax paid by me on 29.03.2005 for Rs 38313.00/- was not considered. I approached my AO on 13.7.2007 and 16.03.2012 giving details and a copy of my advance tax paid.
For AY 2012-2013 filed online a refund of Rs44480.00/- was due to me. Now I have received an e mail dt 19.02.2013 from CPC stating U/S 245 that the refund has been adjusted against outstanding demand.
I have 30 days to react . Please advice me what to do. Yhanks.

CPC is doing all these adjustments on the basis of details available with them.

The AO must have been transferred and might have not given the effect of the Advance Tax Challan presented by you.

The matter can be resolved by approaching the said jurisdictional AO with the relevant documents, with a request
(We can do that only) letter to issue the refund in the prevailing circumstances.

It may take time, but you will certainly get the refund.
