This query is : Resolved

01 August 2007 if any return is filled after the due date of filling, what will be the date from which interest be paid on the refund Amount.

Please explain through example.

01 August 2007 It will be calculated from the begining of the month in which the return was actually filed. Else it would have been calculated from the begining of the assessment year - April.

For A.Y 2007-08, if the return is filed belatedly on Aug10, 2007, due date being July 31, interest will be calculated from 1st of August,2007. Had the return been filed before 31July, interest would have been calculated from 1st April, 2007.
