sir i want to know that what is major differences between inquiry and proceedings under income tax law

Dear Lokesh,
inquiry and proceeding and two different thing.
inquiry is done first by income tax department and on the basis of such inquiry they go for proceeding (which means proceeding against problem found in inquiry)
