Input credit on free samples

29 December 2011 We are into resell drugs. We have to distribute free samples to doctors and to some stockist as this increases out sale. Can I get a input credit on purchase of goods which I am giving as free samples. Also can you please support a suggestion along with case law?

1st assuming that you are a registered dealer as per Excise laws.

you can take input credit on the purchase which you have given away as free samples. and also you have to pay excise duty on the free samples distributed.
