Input credit on free samples

We are into resell drugs. We have to distribute free samples to doctors and to some stockist as this increases out sale. Can I get a input credit on purchase of goods which I am giving as free samples. Also can you please support a suggestion along with case law?

Dear Amey.
1st assuming that you are a registered dealer as per Excise laws.
you can take input credit on the purchase which you have given away as free samples. and also you have to pay excise duty on the free samples distributed.

Thanks a lot Sir but my query was for VAT purpose. Sorry for not mentioning that in my query itself. Also can you please help me with reference of some case law previously happened
