I had filed return before 31.7.2017 but not yet processed. why is it taking time? my father is a salaried class individual with no cash deposits above rs 2 lacs during demonitization.

Reason for delay in processing the return, among others,is non linking of Aadhaar
number with PANo in income tax data base.

The processing of return for FY 16-17 is taking time, so you have to wait.
Whether you had e-verify / Sent the ITR to CPC?
