income tax refund in case of online filling

20 April 2010 Dear friends,

my query is if an assessee has filled the ITR online then whether the refund will automatically gets credited in his account or he will have to go to the department.

kindly help me. it's very urgent.

20 April 2010 DEAR YOGESH,

IF THE ASSESSE HAS OPTED FOR DIRECT CREDIT IN HIS ACCOUNT AND HAS MENTIONED HIS/HER MICR CODE THE AMOUNT OF REFUND WILL BE DIRECTLY CREDITED TO HIS ACCOUNT. BUT IF HE/SHE HAS NOT SELECTED THAT OPTION AND HAS MENTIONED HIS/HER BANK ACCOUNT NO HE WILL GET HIS/HER REFUND CHEQUE BY POST.

20 April 2010 I agree with Mr. Sanjay & Mr. Bansal earlier that was the process.

But now the department will not issue the chq. for refund. They will keep those cases as pending for refund advice & when we visit to income tax office for the same then they asked us to give the bank account no. & other details so that your refund will be credited directly.
