Income tax on sales incentives received by my employer

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
If you receive a commission based on sales value in addition to your salary, it's considered income from salary for tax purposes. This commission doesn't have a separate tax slab; instead, it's added to your total income and taxed according to the applicable income tax rates for your overall earnings.

09 January 2021 Hi there,

I receive a percentage of the total sales value as commission in addition to my monthly salary. I want to understand if this commision is taxable? and if yes, what are the tax slabs, if any?

09 January 2021 Turnover based commission income in your case will be considered as income from salary and will be taxed accordingly

09 January 2021 Thank you, Srinivas. Now, what would that accordingly be? Is there a slab that it follows?

10 January 2021 There's no separate tax slab for salary income. it's applied as per the total income only. You need to show the commission under the income from salaries and the utility will calculate accordingly

10 January 2021 Thank you, Srinivas.
