Can I pay my friend self assessment tax through my net banking account for the f.y.2015-16, he has no net banking & cheq book account.

It is not advisable to do so, as there is option in bank for tax remittance, also to file ITR Bank account details are mandatory, and if he has bank account he can go to bank and pay over the counter and getting internet banking access is also easy nowadays.

yes you can pay the tax on his behalf. you can take the cheque for the tax amount .
