my father is retired person ,but even he is working in a company , there they are deducting TDs u/s 194J as he is not on payroll..so now while filing return whether it should be shown under income from salary or income from profession

Since tds is deducted u/s 194J you have to file ITR -4 income should be declared as income from professional.

Yes, you have to file return as Professional fees income.you can claim refund by calculating your father's income as per income tax slab.

No, you can not show income under other sources, professional income should not be taken in other sources. Income already suffered TDS under 194J. If Income is considered in other sources chances for scrutiny by department.

it is pure professional income so better to file as professional income
