Income from shares

19 February 2011 under which head should income from sale of shares be treated ? Capital gain or business?? whether it depends on the volume of transactions done ? Can someone please reply with the CBDT circular number .....

20 February 2011 Generally, capital gains but if transactions are very much reccuring and like business transaction, it can be treated as business income.

10 October 2021 The option is given to assessee to set a trend. In the initial year, he can treat it either as investment or business; but once selected, he cannot change it in future years.
