my friend has filed his itr for ay 14-15 today. unfortunately due to lack of knowledge he forgot to fill income details & submitted it. now the acknowledgement is showing zero income. kindly suggest what to do now? he wants to show income

12 February 2015 send the itr v ack to cpc and wait for dept to react to this as belated return cannot be revised.

12 February 2015 Return cannot revise as it is belated. Send the back and wait for intimation u/s 143(1), after that rectify the same.

12 February 2015 Yes.There is no question of revising the return as the original return was not filed in due date.
you can post this ITR-V to CPC.

As per your words i expect CPC will definetely raise a notice to rectify mistake u/s 139(9).Once you received that notice you can rectify the mistakes and upload corrected return in e-filing website.

There is greater chance for treating your return as defective.If CPC not treated your return as defective you may rectify the return u/s 154 once you received intimation u/s 143(1)

12 February 2015 No way return can be revised. Please refer section 139(5). Belated return can not be revised.

Just post the ITRV and wait for receipt of notice from CPC based on which further action needs to be taken as advised by Ganesh.

13 February 2015 Again reply modified by Tushar without acknowledging the mistake in his reply as earlier he had advised to file revised return. All other experts are witness to it.
