i want to take gift from my father through cheque.what is the procedure for such gift? what documents are required for gift from father to son?am i required to make affidavit for such gift of money through cheque?please describe any other document or procedure if required.

Hi,
You will have to prepare a Gift Deed on the stamp paper of Rs. 100/- . You have to mention the cheque/D.D. number in the gift deed and that it has been received out of natural love & affection. It need not be registered or notorised. No affidavit is required. Just keep the Gift deed in your file and produce whenever required before any authority.

Date of stamp paper cannot be before the date of cheque. Hence take a declaration of gift on plain paper.

no there no matter of stamp paper date it can be taken before cheque but in reasonable time
