HRA and Housing Loan Deduction

08 February 2011 If any person staying in house at mumbai on a rent basis (bcoz his office situated in navi mumbai), and he is claiming the HRA deduction.
Now he purchase a house at kolhapur,
then can he take the housing loan & principal amount deduction along with HRA deduction.
In this he can get HRA and Housing Loan exemption Both.
But what about if he lives in same city where he has home for which he has taken a home loan.

08 February 2011 still ... HRA & Housing loan both can be claimed.

Condition : House is self occupied & He is staying & paying rent for some other home.

08 February 2011 HRA can be claimed since the person concerend is staying in a rental house in or near the place of employement.

House property become un occupied property in the nature that due to the employment, he has to reside in a home which is not beloinging to him at or near the place of employment....

13 August 2011 Hi Experts,

Do you have any case law to argue or judge yourself.

One of my friend got notice from department saying he can't claim both the things.

The facts of the case is he's staying in rented house till Dec and moved to own house from jan and claimed HRA till dec and H.loan interest from April to March.
