Housing Loan loss not adjusted in ITR-2 F.Y.2008-09

25 November 2010 I have filled online return ITR-2 for the F.Y. 2008-09. I have declared my salary income, Interest on housing loan as loss of current year. But by mistake in ITR I have not claimed as adjustment same loss against my Salary Income. Now I have received Intimation U/s. 143. Raising demand without adjusting the same loss of House property. Whether I am eligible for the set off u/s.71 ? Can I file rectification u/s 154 and ask for the adjustment of loss against salary.?

First of all ur question is not clear as regards ITR 1 and ITR 2. U state that u have filed itr 2 and claimed loss where as in ITR 1 it is not claimed.
If u have claimed loss while filing ITR 1 or 2 and the same is not appeared in intimation than, U can file petition u/s 154 since, loss under head income from house property is eligible to be set off against salary income.

Its ITR-2 only.. in year 2009-10 for having housing loan we need to file TR-2 only. I had filled ITR-2 only bt while filling onlineITR-2 I had not claimed setoof against loss of House property against salary income.nd It has be treate as Carried Forwad loss of Current Year. Whether I can calim now by filling ectification U/s154.or what other option is avalable to me.?
