IN MY CERTIFICATE THE PURPOSE OF LOAN IS MENTIONED AS IMPROVEMENT/RENOVATION.PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHETHER I CAN CLAIM PRINCIPAL REPAYMENT U/S 80 C.

No. You can not claim. (But if you can prove that it is a HOUSING LOAN in first and then the sub category is improvement/ renovation, then you have a good case of claiming 80C
