Housing Loan EMI Deduction

16 January 2009 Dear Sir,

I would like to know whether Hsg Loan repayment in part is eligible to get deduction u/s 80C in each year of repayment. For e.g. out of O/s Hsg Loan of Rs 2 Lacs, if i pay 50000 before Mar'09, another 50000 before Mar'10 & so on then i can get deduction in all 3 years? is there any reference material where we can find this?

16 January 2009 only the payment is eligible for deduction u/s 80C.

But my que is slightly diff
i want t repay in a staggering manner in a span of 4 years (50000 in a yr)
shall i get deduction of 50000 of principal repayment in each of four years? is there any specific reference material which covers this type of clarification?

16 January 2009 Yes. Read provisions relating to Sec 80-C in any text book or guide authored by any one anywhere in India
