Dear All, Please clrify the issue can an assessee pay the Rent to his wife and can avail HRA Benfit on his salary ?

Yes he can do so. There is no restriction. But you need to ensure that the wife offers the same as income from house property in her tax return.

to avail HRA benefit one should not live in his own house. If the property in the name of wife bought by husband he will be deemed owner. so one should be careful.
