I have a query regarding HRA.
As a DDO what we should check and what documents we should receive before giving deduction for house rent.

Just rent received produced by emplyee is sufficient or some other doucmentary evidence is necessary for the same.

Cam an employee claim Rs.90000 per month as house rent ? what doucment we should ask for the same, where it is possible?

Please explain in detail.

12 May 2010 Normally, Just rent recipt containing the necessary details are sufficient.

However, in the given case, you have given Rs.90,000 per month...i think it will be per year,
...however if it is per month ...then confirm whether the market rent value of the house justifies the rent also is the employees has sufficient income i.e salary is suffcient for him to pay so much of high rent. Also, you can get the confirmation of the rent paid by the oqner of the house.

However, my likely hoood is that it will be 90,000 p.a or 9,000 p.m. just confirm??
