whether assessee can pay rent to his mother as a tax planning and to get benefit of HRA which he has receieved from his employer.
i am confused as for mother son his family member and to live in the same house son is paying rent, till date he has not paid any rent to his mother.
wheteher it is allowed??

Son is taking a 'commercial advantage' for the stay with his female parent. Litigation can be expected though there is no specific bar in the Income tax Act,1961.

Yes you can pay rent to your mother.
do not pay her more than market rate
