Help on selecting itr form

24 January 2012 Hello Experts,
I was preparing a return for A/Y 10-11 as well as A/Y 11-12. The person concerned is having interest income and some gift receipts.

Which ITR form should i use??
A/Y 10-11 : Saral ii or Form 2.
A/Y 11-12 : Sahaj or Form 2.

I read somewhere that persons having gift income or any income except interest under head Other sources have to file form 2.

Please Help. thanks

24 January 2012 In both the A.Y.'s ITR 2 is applicable.

24 January 2012 Use Saral II(ITR-1) for AY 2010-11 and Sahaj (ITR-1) for AY 2011-12.

25 January 2012 Sir, I read on a tax website that i have to use Form 2 because my gift receipts are taxable. Please Help.

25 January 2012 ITR 1 can be used.
You can show gifts under the head IFOS in this form.
Gifts are not winning from Lotteries and Cross Word Puzzles etc.
.
Under the head IFOS, if there is any income from Lotteries and Cross Word Puzzles etc. then ITR 2 has been specified for the purpose.
