WHAT document is required to see & verify?

what supporting document can asked to transporter?

how to verify the service tax liability?

04 August 2012 Simple. If the GTA is an individual or firm they will not collect service tax in the bill. If the GTA is a company, like TCI, GATI etc they will collect service tax in which case service receiver need not pay under reverse charge.

If they are not charging, the ultimate onus is shifted to service receiver and SR has to calculate the taxable turnover of 25% of the bill amount and pay 12.36% to the govt in separate challan.

13 August 2012 Taxable turnover means, a turnover after deducting the abatement value eligible.

E.g Transporter bill for the month Rs.10,00,000 (all are above Rs.750/- bills)

Less: Abatement 75% = Rs.7,50,000

Balance is the taxable turnover = 2,50,000.00

Service tax payable by Service Receiver =Rs.30,900.00
