Gstr 4 expenses

This query is : Resolved

26 June 2025 I am under the impression only supply of goods need to be entered in gstr4 purchase and expenses like rent, bank charges can be avoided while filing Gstr4. Please correct me if I am wrong.

12 August 2025 Applicability of Expenses in GSTR-4 (for Composition Scheme taxpayers):
GSTR-4 primarily requires reporting of inward supplies (purchases) and expenses related to business.
Only inward supplies on which you are required to pay tax need to be reported. This generally includes purchases of goods and services used in business.
What about expenses like rent, bank charges, etc.?
If these expenses are incurred for business purposes and attract GST (i.e., the supplier charged GST on rent, bank charges), then they should be included in GSTR-4.
If no GST is charged on those expenses (e.g., rent from a residential landlord with no GST registration, bank charges usually don't have GST), then you do not report them in GSTR-4.
