Whether GST registration has been started?? or it would be done after proposed date of implementation i.e. April 2017

GST registrations not yet started but there was a news of opening a portal for existing taxpayers where Login IDs and passwords will be given to them. They can login and fill the basic details like their place of business and other such details- as per Navin Kumar, Chairman of GSTN.

The process of migration of existing taxpayer registered under Excise, Service Tax and State Tax Laws such as VAT, Entry Tax, Luxury Tax and Entertainment Tax has started from today. This process is called enrollment.
The enrolment activation drive for different states starts on different dates
To download the Enrolment Plan for different State visit: https://www.gst.gov.in/enrolplan
All existing taxpayers and VAT dealers will be given a provisional ID and a password from the state VAT department via SMS or E-Mail. To enroll your business you first need to create your username and password using this provisional ID and password at the GST Common Portal - www.gst.gov.in.
