Gst calimed for car 2018

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
A user claimed GST input tax credit for a car purchased in February 2018 and received a penalty notice six years later. They are seeking advice on how to get the penalty waived, as they weren't informed earlier by their auditor. However, the consensus is that input tax credit for cars is generally not allowed under Section 17(5) of the GST Act, making a waiver unlikely if the business is unrelated to the car's use.

30 August 2023 i have taken input claim for car purchased in feb 2018.i have got notice in june 2023 asking for penalty almost double the input claimed. i have not got any notice earlier . my auditor has also not informed in any financial years about this.how can i get waiver off.
kindly help

31 August 2023 If You are not related business then No way for get waiver. Pay the penalty as per Notice...

01 September 2023 Input credit for car is not allowed under section 17(5) therefore penalty can't be escaped.
