is it mandatory for a manufacturer or seller whose turnover is below 20 lakh to register in GST?

Basic limit for registration is Rs.20 lakh ( Rs.10 lakh for North East states) , so if your turnover is below Rs.20 lakh. not required to register under GST

Dear Sushma,
There are certain cases where registration is compulsory irrespective of turnover. Refer sec 24 of CGST to see if u fall in them. else as informed by fellow expert you'll have limit till 10/20 lakhs resp.
