17 September 2013 No separate registration of Goods Transport Agency is required other than that for Service Tax.

please help me in this regards....

If a company pays freight to a local person(contractor)for carrying goods from one place to another. He arranged few local truck owners for carrying the same.Local person only gives a excel printed freight bill. 1) whether this local person treated as Goods Transport Agency..? 2)Company is required to pay Service Tax on this freight amount under reverse charge ..?

19 September 2013 Yes. Even the local truck owners providing excel printed bills are considered as Goods Transport Agency.
