10 October 2011 Financial year is also called Fiscal Year .It is the period used by Companies or others for accounting purpose and preparing financial statements.

But I think that fiscal year is the period from 1st of april to 31st of march (which can be followed as financial year)


However companies may follow a financial year different from a fiscal year (Eg: 1st jan to 31st dec etc)
