what is meant by fiscal year?

Financial year is also called Fiscal Year .It is the period used by Companies or others for accounting purpose and preparing financial statements.

Richa Ma'am it's not to offend you..
But I think that fiscal year is the period from 1st of april to 31st of march (which can be followed as financial year)
However companies may follow a financial year different from a fiscal year (Eg: 1st jan to 31st dec etc)
Please correct if I am wrong
